Gratitude for My First Month of Coaching

I’ve been coaching for four weeks now. I still feel very humbled yet validated by the all the appreciation and support I’ve gotten from putting myself out there like this. It really feels like I’ve found exactly what I should be doing.

Ever since making the leap, one of the other nicest side effects is the way it’s brought so much into focus for me personally and better aligned my whole life.

For years I’ve been teaching storytelling to organizations, working to build The New Narrative, and also doing freelance marketing work to pay the bills. The big challenge was they all KIND OF related and overlapped, but never quite enough to be symbiotic with each other. I had to devote separate time to each project in a way that made them all suffer. At times it seemed tantalizing close that they all might somehow someday fit together but in the end it just wore me out, had me going in three different directions and never really getting much of anything done.

Refocusing my energy towards coaching has aligned all of it though in a way that I hadn’t even anticipated

Personal development work has been huge for me the last ten years. I’m constantly thinking about it, working on it, and listening to related audiobooks. It was worth it for my own growth, but now it more fully aligns with my professional endeavors too.

Storytelling is already a key part of how I’ve been coaching. Going forward I can see myself bringing more of these personal development tools to my organizational clients to focus more on storytelling as a tool for life than simply just communication.

And certainly everything I’m doing and learning about coaching will be applicable to The New Narrative, which I hope to relaunch in the spring when it’s more unequivocally safer to get together in person again.

Most of all it’s just created a path for me to truly do what I’ve always wanted to do.

At the end of the day, the goal I’ve been working towards this whole time is simply to help people learn, grow, discover who they are, and more fully express themselves to the world. I’d do it for free if I could, but coaching provides a framework and model to help me get fairly compensated for this work so I can sustain myself and even thrive.

So thank you all to everybody who’s put their faith in me so far. I’m excited for what the future will hold and how we can grow it all together,.
